About Andrea

I have added a new feature on the lower right hand column of my blog (I pasted what it looks like here below) as I wanted to assemble my posts about Andrea Lekberg and The Artist Baker and put them all in one spot. The first time I met Andrea, I knew she was a uniquely talented individual. I always have fun documenting her in action with my camera. And her culinary efforts are always lovely to behold and delicious to eat!

The Artist Baker creates a Farm Dinner

On Saturday, my daughter Sarah and I made our way to a lovely spot upstate where my friend Andrea, The Artist Baker created a dinner at Guy Jones'  Blooming Hill Farm for a crowd of ardent foodies who travelled from locations near and far. From the farm's rustic dining room, pizzas crafted and cooked in an outdoor pizza oven, to all sorts of other culinary delights, it was a treat to walk around with my camera and take it all in. Sarah pitched in to help and I had the maternal delight of watching my beautiful girl make herself useful in the mix of the kitchen hands and servers hard at work. Andrea has so many talents and draws such interesting people in to her orbit, I was glad we made the trip to this rural retreat. A few leftovers tucked away in the car meant my husband had a late dinner and I had some stories to tell.

A Stormy Sunday of Delicious Eats

Anytime my friend Andrea, The Artist Baker, does a special event I love to go and take photos. She is a magician with food and her presentations always inspire me. I worry that I might be getting in the way as the assorted cooks madly work to get everything prepared on schedule. Still I am happy to be there documenting whatever I can. It was horrible rain all the way to Morristown and I felt a little crazy driving on the highway through buckets of rain and less visibility. But the sights and smells of Andrea's kitchen quickly lifted away the gloom of the trip.
She is very good at what she does, and if fate allows, I hope we will find a way to create a special book about how an artist becomes a baker and in her way makes the world a better place.

The Artist Baker does the James Beard House

It's been a quiet few days of trying to regroup and reorganize. Pulling myself out of the doldrums to tackle the piles of papers and the general chaos of our home. I went to the city this morning where my friend Andrea, of The Artist Baker cooked an amazing luncheon at the James Beard House. So much hustle and bustle of people working away in this most famous kitchen of kitchens. I watched the many hands assemble an interesting array of flavors to serve the gathering of friends and foodies alike. She is a very talented chef- no doubt about it.

A Day at Play with Andrea

I went to Morristown this morning to spend the day photographing with Andrea Lekberg at her bakery. We are in the planning stages of a couple of project ideas that we have, so we spent the day laying groundwork by experimenting with my camera and her baked goods. She was very well prepared and her elements, cakes, pastries and savories worked out great. We took a break to go to Century 21 located steps away from her shop where she bought a new mascara. Being the resourceful gal that she is, she got her make-up done while we were there. Anytime I can shoot a portrait where my subject has been prepped for the camera- wow, so much easier. Anyways, we worked really well together and enjoyed collaborating. What a pleasant way to spend a day. Making beautiful images in lovely surroundings of delicacies. Now that's a treat!

The Artist Baker

I just finished looking at the Picasa album that I created about a recent visit to Andrea Lekberg's bakery- in Morristown, NJ. I had lunch that day with all the employees in the courtyard and then wandered around with my camera to make some quick snapshots of the place. I do think her's is a great story and I hope we do a project together! (To see more bakery photos click here)
